Release Date Reveal: The Flight of the Aurora

Here we go again, another impending book launch!

I am pleased to announce that the third entry in The Augment Saga, The Flight of the Aurora: An Augment Saga Novella, will be releasing to the world on Tuesday 20th September 2022. It is a real honour that so many of you have read and enjoyed my books thus far, and it is my joy and privilege to present this novella to you: another step in the epic sci-fi adventure that’s been rattling around in my brain for decades.

Much like The Re-Emergence before it, The Flight of the Aurora is a novella - a shorter work around the 150-page mark - that acts as a companion piece, this time bridging the gap between the first and second novels. It follows on fifteen years after the events of From the Grave of the Gods, where Commander James Fowler and his wife Angela embark on another adventure. An old friend presents James with the opportunity of a lifetime: a job as test-pilot for the Aurora, an experimental spaceplane that promises to lead humanity to the stars.

Even though Amazon insists on labelling it as “side content”, it’s not. The Flight of the Aurora is an important main entry for the series which serves as a prequel to my upcoming 2023 novel, The Shadow of Arcadia.

It’s hard to believe I’m in a position to be able to publish my third book in two years. So much has happened since June 2021, it almost feels like too much to have happened in a year and a half.

So what else have I been working on? Aside from preparing to launch this novella, I’ve been slowly making progress on the first proper draft of The Shadow of Arcadia. Also, I have entered From the Grave of the Gods into this year’s Self Published Science Fiction Contest (SPSFC), which is a year-long literary contest for self-published sci-fi authors hosted/created by Hugh Howey (author of Wool) and Duncan Swan (author of Monstre). At the time of writing this blog post, the novel has made it through the “slush-pile” and has been allocated a judging team ready for Round 1, which will go until sometime in December. Naturally, I’ll be following its progress very closely.

The Flight of the Aurora will be available to purchase in ebook on Amazon, and in paperback from all retailers. It will also be available to read for free on Kindle Unlimited.

I hope this novella sparks in you a sense of wonder and exploration as we dive headfirst into the future.
