BIG News: Havering Literary Festival 2021

Book online: libraryevents@havering.gov.uk or in any Havering library.

For those of you have been following my social media for some time, you’ll already likely be aware of this news, but I have been given the marvelous opportunity to be involved in the Havering Literary Festival this year!

I’m so excited to be able to both share about my work with readers and support my local libraries.

The festival runs from the 10th - 25th November and is an annual series of talks from a diverse selection of authors and speakers, taking place in libraries all across the London Borough of Havering. This year will feature bestsellers as well as highlighting the hidden talents of local authors. All the events - both online and in branch - this year are free to attend.

I’m absolutely thrilled to announce that I will be holding a session on Thursday 25th November 7-8pm at Rainham Library! Right now I’m busy writing my talk which will be all about how I got into writing, the challenges, why I chose to self-publish and what I’ve learned along the way. I’ll also be doing a live reading at the start and there will be a Q&A at the end. I will also have paperback copies of both of my books, The Re-Emergence and From the Grave of the Gods, available to buy at a special discounted price, which can also be signed by me :)

I am hoping to be able to record the talk so I can share it on my social media channels, as I know there are a number of my readers who are not based in the UK. Plus, being the first time I’ve done something like this, I’d like to keep it for posterity. If I manage to do that, expect to see the video pop up shortly after the talk. Either way, I’ll definitely be doing a round-up afterwards on my blog, sharing my thoughts on the experience. (UPDATE: I asked about the video, and sadly it won’t be possible, but I’ll still be putting up pictures and a blog post)

There are a number of other author talks happening during the event at all different libraries, including from award-winning historical novelist Lindsey Davis, and poet Tolu’ A. Akinyemi. More information on the sessions can be found here: Havering Literary Festival 2021 Guide.

If you are based around the Havering area, or generally within spitting distance, it would be wonderful to see you. There is a booking system in place for the events, and you can book your place either by using the email address above, or popping into your local Havering library.

Such an exciting opportunity! Hope to see you there.
